Milky Way’s Black Hole Mirage? New Theory Replaces Sagittarius A* with Dark Matter Core

Latest World News: For many years, it was a theory by scientists regarding the presence of a supermassive black hole named Sagittarius A* at the center of the Milky Way galaxy. The theory states that the black hole has a mass of 4 million solar masses. Scientists believed that it had an important role to play in the evolution of the Milky Way galaxy. Recently, there has been controversial world theory research in the study of astrophysics because it has been revealed that it was just dark matter all along.

The Dark Matter Mirage

According to the recently proposed theory, the force attributed to the singularity (an infinitely dense point present at the heart of a black hole) can be similarly produced by a sphere of fermionic dark matter. The sphere of dark matter will appear like any black hole but will lack an event horizon, making it extremely dense and made up of subatomic particles.

In theoretical investigations, one kind of dark matter, consisting of fermions (light subatomic particles), was shown to produce extremely high densities of dark matter at the core of a galaxy. This phenomenon is known as a “dark matter spike” that produces the same gravitational attraction as a supermassive black hole, making it indistinguishable from a black hole.

Challenging the Evidence of S-Stars

For quite some time, the main confirmation of the existence of Sagittarius A* was the “S-stars,” which were a collection of very fast stars circling around the galactic center at an exceptionally rapid speed. The nature of their movement – very fast orbits – indicated that they revolved around a rather large mass situated in the heart of the galaxy.

Recreation of Gravity: On account of this idea, the gravitation generated from the dark matter located in the core will help to recreate the gravity influencing these mentioned stars, thereby resulting in their identical behavior with regard to the S2 star.
Continuity of the Matter Distribution: In contrast to the theory of the existence of the black hole, where the distinction between the galactic center and other parts would remain intact, in case of the idea of the dark matter, the galactic center would become a part of the continuum of the matter distribution within the galaxy.
Rotational Characteristics: The so-called phenomenon of “Keplerian drop” detected by the scientists while studying the rotation speeds of the stars positioned at the edges of the galaxy would not happen under the conditions mentioned above.
The Absence of the Event Horizon: In case there is dark matter located in the center of the galaxy, there will be no such thing as the event horizon.

Redefining the Galactic Center

One advantage of this theory is that it can be employed to explain the movement of each star relative to the movement of the whole galaxy. The definition of dark matter in this regard is the existence of extra mass in the galaxy that forms a spherical shape known as a halo in order to maintain the integrity of the galaxy.

Dark matter is said to exist in ample quantities in the core of the galaxy in the form of a black hole under this theory. It can explain the images obtained of the black hole from the Event Horizon Telescope through gravitational lensing.

The precision with which the pictures can be captured using instruments such as the GRAVITY interferometer and the James Webb space telescope indicates that the researchers will be able to watch out for any signs of evidence to confirm the existence of the “photon rings,” thus confirming the existence of the event horizon surrounding the black hole. In the event that no “photon rings” are found, the idea of the “dark matter core” would become more important than the present one.
