Norway Replies to Trump’s Threat | No Obligation to “Purely of Peace” Thinking

Norway Response

Amid the escalating tension between the European leaders and the US over the Greenland matter, Trump said that he no longer feels obliged to think “purely of peace.” An official in the Prime Minister’s Office disclosed this message, which was then published by PBS.

Trump wrote…

“Considering your country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America.”

President Trump also raised doubts over Denmark’s claim to Greenland. He further asserted sweeping security demands.

The letter further reads…

“There are no written documents; it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there also.”

He added, “I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you!”

To defend the President’s position, the White House takes the matter as a matter of national security. Anna Kelly, Deputy Press Secretary in White House, told news agency IANS that

“President Trump believes Greenland is a strategically important location that is critical from the standpoint of national security, and he is confident Greenlanders would be better served if protected by the United States from modern threats in the Arctic region.”

Norwegian Prime Minister’s Reply to Trump’s Threat

Norway’s Prime Minister gave clarification when Donald Trump expressed his disappointment for not winning the Nobel Peace Prize. President Trump clearly mentioned how this disappointment fueled him to push for Greenland acquisition.

The Norwegian Prime Minister gave a statement,

“I have clearly explained, including to President Trump, what is well known, the prize is awarded by an independent Nobel Committee, and not the Norwegian Government.”

This message was sent to him after he and the Finnish President, Alexander Stubb, reached out to Donald Trump and showed objection to the tariff threat against many European countries.
“I can confirm that this is a text message that I received yesterday afternoon from President Trump. It came in response to a short text message from me sent earlier the same day, on behalf of myself and the President of Finland,” the Prime Minister added to the statement.

“EU Won’t Push Back”

The US President states that the European Union will not push back too much over the Greenland bid. During a conference in Florida, Trump referred to the island as a necessity for national security to tackle Russian and Chinese matters. Denmark doesn’t have enough defensive capability, he added.

Referring to Greenland, Trump said to reporters, “We have to have it. They have to have this done.”

In a post on Truth Social, the US president writes…

“As I expressed to everyone, very plainly, Greenland is imperative for national and world security. There can be no going back – On that, everyone agrees.”
Further, he adds, “Much of the reason for this is a rebuilding of our military during my first term, which rebuilding continues at an even more expedited pace. We are the only POWER that can ensure PEACE throughout the World – and it is done, quite simply, through STRENGTH.”
