Sunita Bagde, who is also known as the alleged suspect, is currently in the custody of the police. The young minor who has suffered serious burns and is currently struggling to survive at a local government hospital is called Ayaan. The case has elicited a lot of anger within the city, especially after the footage of the abhorrent act by the CCTV was leaked on social media.

A Festive Morning Turns Tragic

The incident occurred in the celebrations of Dhulivandan when people usually play with coloured powders. Police claimed that Ayaan was playing with other children and relatives outside his house. During the excitement of the festival, the boy supposedly threw coloured powder or water at his grandmother.

It was also reported that Sunita Bagde got extremely angry due to the behavior of the child. Not all Holi playful behaviour ended this way, but the reaction shown by Bagde was not expected at all. Instead of reprimanding her, she went to the kitchen, took a vessel of hot boiling water, and poured it over the four-year-old.

The screams by the child immediately alerted his neighbours and other family members, who came to his rescue. Ayaan was immediately taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Nagpur, where the doctors established that he had sustained burns that covered about 40 or 50 percent of his body, mainly on the back, chest, and arms.

CCTV Footage Provides Crucial Evidence

The case came to a head when investigators retrieved CCTV footage in the area of the residence. The video has revealed well the flow of events where the woman holds the container of boiling water and intentionally turns to the child.

As was observed by police officials, the motivational character of the act was hardly doubted due to the clarity of the footage. The latest news today is very alarming, said one of the officers attached to the Koradi Police Station. The video depicts the suspect walking with intentions and channeling her rage on an innocent child who was only enjoying the celebrations.

Local residents were in disbelief at the intensity of the grandmother’s reaction. The family neighbours explained that they were usually very quiet, but some of them mentioned that there must be some trouble in their house that might have made the woman unstable in her environment.

Legal Action and Hospitalization

After the father of the boy filed a complaint, Nagpur police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Sunita Bagde. She has been accused under applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), such as 109, which is on attempted murder.

A senior police official said that the accused was arrested and that he was being investigated extensively. Safety of the child comes first, and we are making sure that the legal process continues fast so as to bring justice.

The doctors in GMCH confirmed that the following 48 hours play a critical role in the life of the young boy. These burns are very deep, and the child is very young, which exposes her to a high risk of infection and dehydration. A team of burn specialists is keeping watch of him currently in the intensive care unit.

The case has led to an extended debate on domestic violence and the safety of children in a family. The local child rights activists have requested that the punishment be strict and that the relationship between the accused and the victim, as family, makes the crime even worse. As Nagpur goes on with the tragedy, it is still centered on the recovery of Ayaan and the looming legal action to take against his grandmother.
