HDFC Bank Employee Issues Statement After Viral Clip
Latest News Today: The video, which became popular on social media, showed an aggressive conflict between the staff of the bank, thus leading to an internal inquiry and open debate on the ethics in the workplace.

A video showing a heated scuffle among staff in a branch of HDFC Bank in Kanpur posted online has generated a lot of debate on professionalism and caste identity in the workplace. The video, which shows staff member Aastha Singh having a verbal fight with one of her colleagues, attracted a massive amount of criticism on social media. As a reaction to the backlash, Singh issued a statement to justify her actions, but at the same time noted that the words she used were not proper.
This is said to have happened on a regular working day at the Kanpur branch. Singh, in the video, seems to be quite agitated and makes several remarks regarding her caste and threatens one of her colleagues. As the centre of the controversy, the statement Thakur hoon main (I am a Thakur) was used as a way to intimidate her colleagues.
How the Conflict Began
In the latest news update, Aastha Singh attempted to explain the behind-the-scenes that led to the outburst. As it is stated by Singh, the video records a small part of a much longer and more complex interaction. She claimed that the fight started when her workmate first insulted her caste. Singh keeps insisting that she was pushed to the limit after being provoked several times and insulted personally.
Singh confirmed that she was challenged by him on her caste first. She argued that even though the video depicts her as the main aggressor, she was in fact reacting to an aggressive environment. She insisted that the concerned colleague had been acting unprofessionally for a long duration of time, and the incident that was recorded on camera was a drink to a long-standing sour.
Although she defended herself, Singh still agreed that she was not able to give the best answer. She admitted that she felt frustrated, and it dominated her, leading to her use of language that she regrets. My words were not correct, she said, but that she had a right to protect her dignity against what she termed as targeted harassment.
Manners in the Profession and Social Media Effect
The event highlights how social media continues to gain power in holding corporate employees to account. The modern workplaces do not place internal quarrels behind the office doors. With smartphones everywhere, any lack of judgment can be captured and shared with millions of people in just minutes.
The video was a major PR issue for HDFC Bank. The banking industry is very dependent on its image of discipline, indifference, and customer service. It poses a threat to the brand image when they capture a video of internal division and use the name of caste identity. The bank has been reported to take notice of the incident, but certain disciplinary actions against the parties involved have not been made public to any extent.
Experts in the industry argue that in most cases, high-pressure environments are the cause of such incidents. Banking employees are accustomed to having strict goals and long hours, which may be the catalysts of emotional tension. However, with the introduction of caste-based rhetoric, there is one more social sensitivity that goes beyond the normal workplace pressures.
The Workplace Safety and Threats Debate
The threat demonstration was also among the most disturbing aspects of the video. Singh was seen saying to her co-worker that she would meet him outside the office, a comment that most people thought was a physical threat. On her part, Singh argued that any form of threats should not be entertained, but she claimed to have felt physically and psychologically offended in the argument.
This discussion has changed to how organizations deal with grievances within the organization. In case Singh is correct in his claims of provocation before the incident, it begs the question as to why the matter was allowed to get this far into the limelight. This is why there is more and more pressure on the human resource departments to establish more sound conflict-management systems to prevent these outbursts.
