Amazon Gives Engineers Access to Claude Code and Codex in Major AI Push
Tech News: Amazon has formally expanded employee access to advanced AI-based coding assistants following a robust internal need by engineering teams and signifies a significant change in the approach to software development that one of the largest technology companies globally intends to adopt. The company is currently releasing tools such as Claude Code and Codex to a wider audience of developers as a part of its growing internal productivity ecosystem.

The shift is also driven by the fact that large enterprises are increasingly using AI-assisted programming to minimize the repetitive workload of coding, accelerate the debugging process, and reduce development cycles. In Amazon, software engineers had been reportedly seeking more access to generative coding models which would be used to help automate documentation, generate snippets, explain legacy code and assist in testing.

Anthropic created Claude Code to assist programmers with contextual logic and code description and long-form repository support. In the meantime, the Codex of OpenAI is very popular because it transforms natural language prompts into executable code and automates engineering processes.
